• Re: Feature request: "Comment out" part of model

Hi Brian, I'm trying to picture what it is you would like to do here. So please forgive these questions, 1. Do you want to view 'part' of an existing model (without the clutter of the rest of the model?) 2. What do you mean by 'disconnect' exactly? 3. Can you provide an example? Maybe graphically? 4. What type of ...

  • Re: Popuation Editor Data Entry Too Subtle

Hi John, I second that. That function is not user friendly the way it is. I think your suggestion is a good one. I really like nORMa, but if there is a great student at Neumont who is interested in ergonomics/user friendliness, and a receptive staff member to give extraordinary credit for design over functionality, then please go for it. We need ...

  • Philosophy

Hi Ken, Would it be possible to have a Forum called 'Philosophy' under 'Research'. It's just that a couple of us want to discuss the Philosophy of ORM in an open Forum, and believe this site to be a good place to do that. Best regds Victor

  • Re: Finding Euclid in ORM

Hi Brian, I don't know where I got John from. I apologise. On Join Subset Constraint, I believe the intended interpretation, and we'll most likely find when it is implemented in NORMA, is that it operates in a manner that "If you can't query it, you may as well not be able to store it"....so my reference to ...

  • Re: Finding Euclid in ORM

Hi John, Thank you for contributing to this post. For my money, it'd be a shame if the philosophy of ORM wasn't discussed. In envisaging 'parallels' and ORM, I believe that it is fair to say that we already have both (analogously) 'joining' and 'non-joining' in ORM, through the concept of ...

  • Finding Euclid in ORM

My company does research into ORM. At the moment were considering the virtues of an extension to ORM. Of course, doing so (creating an extension to ORM) is no small feat, because the likelihood of counter-example and inconsistency must be taken into very careful consideration; as does the notion of working with the rest of the community ...

  • Re: Extending the vision of extensions to ORM. Your viewpoint most welcome

I'm really excited by the prospect of a stand-alone NORMA as well. I think that will be great for ORM. Bit off topic, but maybe not. Extensions to a stand-alone NORMA could utilise .Net in dynamic ways uncoupled from VS, interfacting with Business Process logic engines etc. Then we're in the domain of 'Business Analysts' rather ...

  • Extending the vision of extensions to ORM. Your viewpoint most welcome

I was speaking with a colleague of mine the other day about work we are doing with an ORM meta model, and how people are starting to use ORM meta models to investigate ways of melding 'relational schemas' with 'functions' (viz Dr Morgan's 2007 ORM conference work on Business Process Modeling and ORM). My friend said "Oh, ...

Hi Brian, By all means. I think there is interest there. There is here. Anything you can share would be great. Victor

  • RE: Keyboard Shortcuts

Hi Tyler, Do you mean like this?.... http://www.viev.com/resources/sample/FastRoleUniquenessAssignment/FastRoleUniquenessAssignment.htm I agree. Higher priority needs to be given to keyboard shortcuts within NORMA in general. What's interesting is that high-end features overall won't influence as many users as ease of use and ...
