A version of the IT Management data model that does not require NORMA or Visual Studio to read.

  • Re: IT Management ORM data model PDF

My apologies . I pasted the graphic in the wrong format. The bird identification model was done right. I'll fix them and reload the PDF.

  • Read-only PDF version of Bird Identification ORM database model

This is the full database model, with ORM notation, text version, and Entity-Relationship diagrams, all captured in a document that can be read by anyone with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The database would allow a user to determine the probability of seeing any species (of bird, for example) based on GPS location, time-of-day, season, and the history ...

  • Adding Color to graphics

I notice that Visual Studio has an Image Editor toolbar with color selector and fill tools. I would like to be able to color code some of the entity fact types, and it appears that VS has the tools. But the ORM graphic model does not activate any tools on that toolbar. What would it take for NORMA to enable using some of the image editing ...

  • Bird Identification - Wildlife Field Guide

I created the Bird Identification model (and prototype database) a few years ago. It was inspired by bird field guides, but with the idea that a GIS (Geographic Information System) and GPS (Global Positioning System) on a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a field biologist could get much more specific clues for identifying ...

  • Re: Relational View crashes in VS 2010

I turned on the break for all and got this message: System.NullReferenceException occurred Message=Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source=Microsoft.VisualStudio.Modeling.Sdk.Diagrams.10.0 StackTrace: at ...

Trying to get a call stack by following your instructions. (I'm not a programmer.) Up through step #4 works fine. But I'm missing something in step #5, as the list of common language runtime exceptions goes on and on. 'Break when Thrown' must be buried in there, somewhere.

  • Highlight Selected Relationship in Relational View

It seems that if I select a single relationship in Relational View that the color of the line representing that relationship changes slightly. If it is not too hard, could you make the change in color quite a bit more obvious. I find that, with a larger model, the original Relational View is really messy. I don't have a method for laying out ...

  • Relational View crashes in VS 2010

Using a slightly-modified version of the IT Management model (available on the ORM site), I added a Relational View. This view is quite messy, so I am moving around the tables and renaming a few of the relationships to make table names shorter. I find that after about 5 moves of tables, Visual Studio crashes. It has happened about five times. ...

  • IT Management Data Model

Certain data is required to manage IT (Information Technology the organization that delvers computer services), whether you have the tools or not. This document describes the data that the business must track in order to manage (plan, monitor, and control) the following: People and Organization Assets (applications, servers, ...
