• PascalCase column generation not working in generated SQL; customizing column name output

I went into "ORM Model Browser" -> "Name Generation Settings" -> "Name Generation Defaults" -> "Relational Names" -> "Column Specific" -> "CasingOption". On the Relational View it gives the correct casing, but in the generated SQL it's still coming through as ...

  • Re: Feature Request: Merge entity types

Ken, Alas, your proposed procedure is exactly what I've been doing. It's quick enough for merging down a few hundred Object Types, but when the count gets into the thousands.... Interesting proposal for the "Lessons Learned" document. The domain is a direct sales company that is taking orders and paying commission to its sales ...

  • Re: Feature Request: Merge entity types

Ken, I know you weren't aiming that at me! Just a little self-deprecating humor. And yes, the current mess was created with a tool. "Notepad", I think it's called. <shudder /> Unfortunately NORMA won't let me rename the objects to something that already exists in the model. That's a great feature for safety, but ...

  • Re: Feature Request: Merge entity types

Ken, Perceptive as always. Each of those factors contributed significantly to the current mess of a schema that we have now. It's also true that being able to merge entities won't prevent this problem in the future. It would, however, enable me to refactor the silly thing more quickly! I've spent 3 days now dragging lines around to ...

  • Re: Why not an independent ORM2 tool?

Continuing that thought, I came across this today that's kind of along the lines of a mini training / indoctrination course for their particular tool. I don't know that the NORMA forum is necessarily the right place for this sales pitch, but some less formal YouTube introductory courses could be a step toward broadening our ...

And yes. As a developer with some (very outdated) experience working on NORMA I should just write the dang thing myself! But I wanted to put it out there to everyone and see if it's something that's commonly encountered or just a special case.

  • Re: Why not an independent ORM2 tool?

Matt, Apparently I haven't been keeping up! I had no idea you were working on a web viewer. I've been thinking of diving in to contribute some UI nice-to-have things. Would it be better to contribute to the NORMA project, or are you more actively developing in the web version? I'm thinking NORMA first since I use it regularly, but a ...

  • Feature Request: Merge entity types

At work we're doing a rewrite of a large database, and I'm finally getting to use NORMA in the field! After reverse-engineering the database, it's obvious to see that there was almost no thought about normalization. The good news is that our updated model will be amazing. The bad news? Getting there is a huge pain. It would be ...

"Facts is survived by two brothers, Rumor and Innuendo, and a sister, Emphatic Assertion." Great piece, Clifford. Thanks for sharing!

  • Re: NORMA VS2010 PLiX Implemenation error

Answered my own question. I re-installed NORMA from the download in the ORM Foundation library, and all is well. I figured this would be the solution, but I wanted to go ahead and ask the question so that other people who do the same thing can search for it. To sum up: I installed PLiX from the SourceForge project page. It was probably an ...
