  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR - Habitation!

Hello Brian, Please select what you think is the most convenient way of organising this; as far as I am concerned you are a much more experienced expert in Community Server than I am. As said before I believe it is enough challenge to limit the submission to three approaches: CogNIAM, ORM and SBVR. I...

Hello Sjir, [Sjir: Dear Brian,] I've come back to your original question about modeling the OF website to post a proposal for a general fact-based modeling exercise. [Sjir: excellent and very practical idea.] I don't know to what degree what I propose will satisfy your objectives, but it is just...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR - Habitation!

Dear Brian, The first priority is to develop a conceptual schema in SBVR, CogNIAM and ORM that contains a. a complete list of concept definitions b. a complete list of associated fact types c. a complete list of associated fact type forms d. a complete list of the asociated rules to understand the communication...

Ken, Would it be an idea that we start to develop the conceptual schema of this website in both CogNIAM, ORM and SBVR? It could be a good example of a very practical and relevant application. Kind regards Sjir

Terry, Lex and Ken, First and for all thanks for your contributions to this thread. What would the conceptual world be without real examples? I said in the start of this discussion just to consider some other forms of atomicity. Well here is my preferred model: ft1: SBVR expert <SBVR expert> started...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Dear Terry, In your previous contribution you mention a few aspects that deserve further discussion one of which is atomicity of fact types. All three approaches SBVR, ORM and CogNIAM have atomic fact types in the classical definition. Practice has shown that there is more that can be offered to a mature...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Dear John, Thanks for your clear description of semantic and speech communities in SBVR and the relationship to UoD. I would propose we extend it a bit by the following: SBVR distinguishes three levels: a. Ground facts b. Domain specific conceptual schema c. Generic conceptual schema In SBVR the union...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Terry, Thanks very much for your lucid description of ORM, CogNIAM and SBVR. I agree with you that a common core model is a very worthwile effort for the fact orientation community. I like in particular your words "useful subsets of them". I know quite a few fact orientation users who welcome...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Hi Roel, No - I don't think that as things stand, CogNIAM, SBVR and ORM2 (or ORM1) can be "translated into each other" ORM1 is a subset of ORM2 so that isn't much of a problem. However, to the best of my knowledge, There are many differences between SBVR and ORM that need to be resolved...
