• Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Hi John, Just to comment on your last point - and to try to make my point clear. You talk about a "concept" as though it can be separated and specified separately from the context in which it is used. This is an important point that I want to explore by challenging your assertion that: "The concept is ...

  • Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR - Habitation!

Hi Sjir, That's an interesting idea but it sounds like quite a big project (probably several weeks if not months work) Right now I'm finding it hard to spare time for manageing the website so I'm sorry but I could not committ to such a project. And anyway, I don't see what benefit I might get from doing such a project. You ...

Terry, Start date without end date> My domain model says that "There is always an end date" in that if someone takes up residence then they are resident from the day they register to either yesterday or the day on which they chose to discontinue residence. This allows easy reporting for "How many resident-days have we had ...

Hi Terry, Thanks for pointing out my "oops!" I have corrected the file in the library to prevent others from being misled. Interesting isn't it that there is such hidden complexity in seemingly simple facts! One way of avoiding the "NULL" problem is to populate the second fact with today's date. (OK, yesterday's ...

Well folks, here is my contribution. As far as I can see there are two quite distinct elementary facts that (in my opinion) have nothing to do with each other. Fact 1: Person began residence in Country on Date Fact 2: Person ended residence in Country on Date I have uploaded a file to the library that shows: 1: The object-role model 2: The two ...

  • Re: Forum Statistics

Sjir, I have fixed the problem with the stats, You will now see that they are up to date. One small point - The displayed stats are for the total site. Thus, since some forums are not visible to all users, in some cases, what can b ecounted on the screen may be different from the numbers at the bottom of the ...

  • Re: Forum Statistics

Sjir, Yes, it is true. The forum statistics are not an accurate reflection of forum posts. This problem appeared when we migrated the NORMA posts from Sourceforge to this website. The SQL script that was used for the migration was successful in migrating all of the posts. Unfortunately, the SQL script did not include the code ...

Hi John, Thanks for your explanation. My response follows. Cheers Ken A semantic community is a group of people. Thanks for the clarification. Mea culpa! In my haste to answer the post, I had assumed that the definition of each term was self contained. I can now see that there is a structuring of terms. Their body of shared meanings ...
