• Re: CogNIAM and ORM as business practices of SBVR

Terry, Of course I agree that "symbols are not communities". (The label is not the thing!) However, I was interpreting the SBVR standard from the semiotic perspective. The SBVR standard lists the term "semantic community" and gives the following definition: "(a) community ...

Hi Roel, I don't know anything about UI and perFact so I can't comment. However, as I see it, although superficially similar, NIAM and ORM have a significant difference. For me, the crucial difference is that ORM meets the criteria required of a formal language. (See Terry Halpin's 1989 PhD thesis, ...

  • SBVR 11.1.1 - ORM Example

This is an example of how to use ORM to define the concepts shown in Figure 11.1 in the SBVR standard. Note - this is not complete - it is an example of the principles.

Hi Roel, No - I don't think that as things stand, CogNIAM, SBVR and ORM2 (or ORM1) can be "translated into each other" ORM1 is a subset of ORM2 so that isn't much of a problem. However, to the best of my knowledge, There are many differences between SBVR and ORM that need to be resolved before any ...

  • Re: Generate a 'submodel' by selecting a set of diagrams

You clearly have a challenging set of problems and I'd like to understand more about your needs so hence my questions: 1: What is the business need that is driving the solution of "about two dozen physical databases" ? 2: Which ORM tool are you using? Ken

  • Re: Print & Page Setup crash Visual Studio 2008

"Might be a Vista issue (the corporate image is still XP). If you have a VS2005 install as well, I'd like to know if you get consistent behavior. " I have now tested the latest NORMA release with VS 2005 under XP Pro and there are no print problems. The VS 2008 community site mentions instability and some folks there ...

[quote user="Matthew Curland"] Can you page setup and print a normal text document? Yes- I created a text file in VS 2008 and both functions work normally. Can you page setup and print a 'Class Designer' document (create a C# project, right click on Program.cs (or any .cs file) in the solution explorer, and choose ...

  • Re: Print & Page Setup crash Visual Studio 2008

Matt, This formatted version might be easier for you to read. Ken Dialog Box- Windows has triggered a breakpoint in devenv.exe. This may be due to a corruption of the heap, which indicates a bug in devenv.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded. This may also be due to the user pressing F12 while devenv.exe has focus. The output window may have ...

  • Re: Print & Page Setup crash Visual Studio 2008

Other programs print normally. When I load a small model and select "Page Setup", VS 2008 just crashes and restarts. When I select "Print" I get a dialog box with a message (see below). Then when I debug, I get the output shown below. Ken Dialog Box Windows has triggered a breakpoint in devenv.exe. This may be due ...
