Hi,
I noticed that changing an objects Primary reference mode, once it has sample data, results in creating an object with the new PRM and putting that in the diagram, but leaves the object with the old PRM (only visible in the Object Browser). I put this in a bug report, but wanted to let Oct CTP users know about this behavior. BRN..

Hi,
I ran into the same thing, but I don't know if it should be a model validation concern. I'd think it would be vendor specific, as to how they implement a VARCHAR - maybe some use a default value, if it's set to zero?
My guess is there is a slew of stuff that's planned for making mapping to specific RDBMS easier and better. It would be ...

Hi,
Yeh, having the first student signed determining the team sponsorship ins't exactly intuitive. If you have a reason for doing it that way, that's fine - the model should fit the reality, rather than making the reality fit the model; having an application do the first signed bit, might be better that to use it as a DB schema requirement, ...

Hi,
I've been running into problem with several tabs (espcially the fact editor and sample data). Usually, I have all windows hidden (push pin horizontal). If I have a problem with a tab not comming up on-hover, I'll find one tab that will, and pin that one (pushpin vertical), then hide it again. After that all the tabs are accessable again. ...

Hi,
Even though the verbalization I propossed looks Ok to me, I'm going to wait until I can use NORMA to model it, and make sure it's doing what I think it's doing. In a way it's a good thing - as it demonstrates that the tool (and at least for me), is neccessary to create and verify a data model that will be functionally accurate to the ...

Hi,
Sometimes it a bit hard to understand what a person is trying to model, when they start in with methodology specific assertions, rather than the basic facts that they are trying to model - we'll I find it hard, anyway.
The basic facts for your model might be stated:
A school enrolls students
A given student is enrolled in at ...

Thanks for the reply,
For now I'm going to the diagram and selecting an Object (Object, Role, Constraint...), and using that to find the approx place in the OB - sort of object browsing in reverse. Yes, the new OB will be very welcome. BTW, what kind of scale/dimension are you testing with the current release? I'd like to know what you folks ...

Hi,
Gonna take a little while to digest what you passed along! Thanks for the reply, Matt. There's an apparent subtext in what you said, and that is there's a great deal of cooking going on in great many pots - to paraphrase a line from John LeCarre's ''A Spy who Came in From the Cold.'' I hope you and others will post more ''heads up'' ...

Hi,
A recurring point of frustration is in having to manually change role names, to avoid mapping errors when generating DDL scripts. A common problem concerns ring constraints with a FactType like 'Team(ID) plays Team on Date()' with an asymetric ring constraint to keep a team from playing itself. A solution is to rename the first role to ...

Hi,
Openning up the ORM object browser drills doown to a list of object (like constraints), but it's not allways easy to know where the listed object is in the ORM diagram (let alone a multi-page ORM diagram). Seeing 'Internal Uniquness Constraint 17' doesn't give a lot of info about just where in the model diagram IUC is to be found. Any way ...
