• Re: ORM for Data Warehouses and Data Marts - Useful?

Hi Ken, I was just about to say much the same thing! With Tom, I think we may be preaching to the choir - about the real value of sound data. I think we can all empathize with him about the pressure to make silk purses from sow's ears. What we can do is articulate the reasoning and rationale to counter the deeply ...

  • Re: ORM for Data Warehouses and Data Marts - Useful?

Hello Tom, That's an interesting post. My initial take on it is to look "up stream." If you've found that the data for OLAP comes from OLTP (Line of Business transaction Databases), then ORM is useful at least in the sense of providing better quality raw material for these derivative data structures. You ...

  • Re: VS 2005 & VS 2008 - ORM file compatibility

Hi Ken, I think it would be important to make clear the configuration of your system(s). Do you have VS 2005 and VS 2008 installed on the same computer; and is that the configuration you are using for the conversions? VS 2008 allows you to select the .Net framework version for a project (for compatibility with previous ...

  • Re: Installing DSL and PLiX

Hi John, Yes, you'll need both; but they are small compared to something like Visual Studio. Speaking of which, you'll need VS Standard or better for the current implementation. If you use VS 2008, the DSL tools are already covered in that install (the reason you don't see them in zip folder for that package). ...

  • Re: Spell checking forum posts

Hi, I see spell checking working in forums now, but on only one of two systems with similar configuration. I had changed Content editor from Enhanced to Standard, then to Plain Text (but hard to see how that could effect two systems differently). I have OF site White Listed on both. In any event, I know your enabling of FF spell checking ...

  • Re: Spell checking forum posts

Hi, No the problem is not client-side; the FF spell checker works on other websites, and in other sections of this website - just not in the forums. I suspect it maybe the "Enhanced editor" I selected in user profile. I'll try changing that back to "Standard." The notice says it may take 20 minutes for ...

Thanks admin, I'm not seeing the feature working at this point, but the FW'd info mentioned a time lag, or reset of the server, before it would kick in. I see the ABC check icon, but clicking brings up download page for ieSpell (Internet Explorer only). I'll check again another day and post the results. BRN..

  • Re: Spell checking forum posts

Hi, I had searched for info and found that thread on CS forums before posting here. Following your suggestion, I've posted a reply/question to that site, and will let you know if/when I get an answer (asked about options for the user and admin). I noticed that I did not get the use of FF spell checking feature while composing the ...

  • Spell checking forum posts

Admin, I use FireFox to access the forums here. I can't find a way to get FF's built in spell checking feature to work in the forum posts entries. I does work in the search box, and even in the leave a comment to Library file section. I have Content Editor set to Enhanced in user profile. Can't think of ...

  • Re: Unique FK+Field

Hi Mike, Your reply gives me (us), a better idea of where you are in using ORM and nORMa - off to a good start. I wish I was as well grounded in ULM as you seem to be. You can find a number of articles by Dr. Halpin comparing UML and ORM, through his site www.orm.net. If you haven't yet, grab the nORMa tutorials from ...
